Steve's Leaves Launches New eCommerce Website

Steve's Leaves Launches New eCommerce Website

We’ve Launched a Brand New Website Redesign for the Biggest Little Greenhouse in Texas

About Client

Steve's Leaves may be based in the Dallas area but their greenhouse looks straight out of the tropics. They specialize in high-demand and rare plant breeds that people covet. Plenty of those breeds are cultivated in-house but others are sourced from all over the world.

In particular, they’re famous for their weekly auctions that help plant enthusiasts find the products and plants that are hard to track down.

Given the rise in love for house plants, Steve's Leaves has a strong social media following including plant-life influencer Summer Rayne Oakes.

We could tell from the get-go that this client was extremely passionate about their product and that customer service was a central focus of their work. They were easy-going and collaborative through the process which makes for some great results.

Goals for Redesign

For the website redesign, Steve's Leaves wanted to show off the depth of the team’s plant knowledge. However, they also wanted to stay true to their roots as a company that has had the same owner since the 1970s. Here were our main goals with the website update:

  • Create a unified color palette that focuses on plant imagery without the cold, stark white that many competitors use
  • Adjust site for a product-first approach so interested buyers can quickly decide
  • Update the logo tagline
  • Create unique icons for the website
  • Redesign their Mailchimp newsletter template to match the new brand look

Website Design & Functionality Highlights

We worked with the client–on Shopify Plus–to integrate several apps to enhance their internal day-to-day operations, as well as create a seamless eCommerce experience for the user.

We designed the website to make sure that the eCommerce offerings were front and center. The products were moved “above the fold” so that website visitors can quickly see what is available and make a purchase. The “Staff Picks” section was also one that was elevated with the design to showcase both the knowledge of the Steve's Leaves team and the plants available.
