Ocean Beauty Seafoods New Website Design Has Set Sail
Ocean Beauty Seafoods is a pioneer in the Northwest seafood industry, rooted in Alaska. Today, Ocean Beauty Seafoods ranks among the largest and most successful vertically integrated seafood companies in the Pacific Northwest. With worldwide sourcing and company-owned processing, distribution, and sales outlets in Alaska and throughout the continental United States, they make it possible for all of their products – fresh, frozen, and canned – to reach customers in key markets around the world.
Seafood Website Design
The design of the site pays homage to the long-standing history of the company, giving it a vintage look and feel with modern-day interactivity and functionality. We used the blue, gold, and red from the logo throughout the site, as well as a serif font that provides a nautical touch. Throughout the site, vintage photos are used as well as a yellowed paper background that creates a cohesive historic look.
The website design was created to show a historic and experienced business, while also being a modern marketing tool for the business. The site acts as a catalog of products, a digital brochure for the history of the business, and even a recruiting tool for potential customers. Addressing all three of these audiences required a custom design that guides users based on their needs - with the history of the company and is the starting point for each.
Despite not selling online, we created product pages in a familiar style that allows D2C buyers as well as Distributors to learn more about each individual product and any relevant information surrounding it including nutritional information, availability, a selection of photos, and more.
Website Development
With a beautiful custom design and a variety of functionality needed, we built the site on FusionCMS. The CMS allowed for the creation of a custom design, while also making it easy to update on the backend for users. With WYSIWYGs for content areas and easy drop uploads for photos, they can update and edit the site easily within the CMS.
Along with its easy to use nature, the site is also built to be linked throughout, so the team at Ocean Beauty can make sitewide updates in one spot. Another great feature this site is taking advantage of is the forms module. All contact Forms can be customized with additional fields able to be added, as well as the ability to send specific forms to different email addresses, helping streamline contact forms based on distribution info, product info, and job applications.
Website Search Engine Optimization
Using FusionCMS allowed us to lay a solid foundation of organic SEO work, including optimized keywords, headings, and meta descriptions that will help users find the site.
This stemmed from our SEO Audit and Optimization that gives us an in-depth look at the previous rankings of the site and shared where we can further improve and optimize rankings using relevant keywords and backlinking.
