Young Survival Coalition Launches Site to Reach More Breast Cancer Survivors
Founded in 1998 by three young women who were diagnosed with breast cancer and discouraged by the lack of resources available to them, Young Survival Coalition has since become the go to organization for young women facing a breast cancer diagnosis. The goal of YSC is to provide information, resources and support from diagnosis through long-term survivorship, as well as educate and empower young women to be their own best health advocate. YSC works with healthcare providers, researchers and legislators to educate them about the unique issues young women face, and advocates for more studies on breast cancer in young women and access to quality care.
Design Needs
Young Survival Coalition wanted to create a new site that was easy to find and easy to navigate. As a non-profit with a large amount of events, information, and resources, it was crucial to organize all aspects into easy to access categories like: Learn, Connect, Get Involved, Be Inspired, and Donate. Under the category Learn, one of the most important aspects is the “Resources,” which utilizes our Services Module. From Treatment Types to Diagnosis, to Financial Resources, the listings are easily added or taken away from by YSC using the Services Module. Our Online Event and Schedule Model allows for YSC to create and organize their numerous events throughout the year, providing information and a clean display on a calendar. The Blog Module allows for one the most inspiring aspects of the website: Survivor Stories. With filters like “Age,” “Type of Cancer,” and “Treatment,” women are able to use YSC to find women that are just like them and be inspired through their stories.
